It all really depends on 2018. If democrats take either or both chambers we will definitely have a proper investigation into the Russian matter.

If they take both they will impeach him around in time for 2020 primaries, forcing republicans to either disavow him or stand by him. Both options will piss people off. It will also really throw a huge wrench into the republican presidential primary, an incumbent usually ends up just walking through it.

Removal from office is unlikely as that'd require a lot of republicans to break rank (15-16 under likely scenarios). They might do it and let Pence stand in while they scramble to look for a candidate but that point 2020 election is toast for them.
