When people think of California they think of a friendly and welcoming place for immigrant communities. The reality is that the state with the largest number of undocumented people is far from that safe haven we all wish it were. In our state there are programs like 287g and Secure Communities that have criminalized and separated thousands of families. In Downtown LA, in an almost unnoticed manner, thousands of people are being detained, processed and deported, away from their families and other loved ones.

The Department of Homeland Security recently announced that they would make Secure Communities mandatory in all states that already have agreements, including those that have already chosen to opt out. As Undocumented youth we must take a stand!

We know that all across the nation programs like Secure communities are only adding to the suffering and criminalization of our families. It is time to rise up and tell ICE that California is no place for their criminalization tactics.

Join undocumented youth as they speak out and declare themselves undocumented and unafraid against Secure Communities.
