To be fair, 90% of Democrats and 60% of Independents approve of President Obama. It's the Republicans, with 27% support, who are "dragging" his approval rating to "just" an aggregate total of 62%.

Gallup: Obama Approval Rating

President Obama will bring his popularity and White House team to help with immigration reform but immigration activists also need to build support for immigration reform in tandem. The conservatives and restrictionists have been screaming bloody murder and dire electoral consequences for Obama and the Democrats if they push immigration reform, but looking at the past two elections, their threats are turning out to be meaningless and politically impotent.

The American people want a solution to the border problem, and comprehensive immigration reform will increase border security while also providing a tough but humane way to deal with the undocumented population here in the United States.
