Anyway, if I was sponsored by immediate family -ie, a spouse, there would be no waiting like a sibling sponsorship and due to me being grandfathered under old exclusion rules, I could request to adjust my status much easier than going the 245i route. It was excellent advice but I never had the opportunity to follow it because I never met anybody that I could see myself marrying alas, that's life.

By the way, there ARE shady lawyers out there who have an office next door with a "fixer". This is not one of them. He is very conservative in taking money to do a case and if he doesn't think it'll work, he won't take many risks.
