The application process is very smooth at the state and very straight forward. I would imagine you would have to meet with the directors or leaders of the agency that you would apply to. Each state posts their open positions at their DAS (Dept of Administrative Services) website or the equivalent. You can just type "XXX state jobs" on google and you'll get the link immediately. If you meet the initial requirements based on your resume and application, they will certainly call you but it may take a month or two depending on what type of position it is. Once you're in, I can tell you you will have a good time with the work as you will have adequate training and flexibility and time.
