If a business can't pay a minimum livable wage, it's not a viable business. We are not in slavery, and the tax payer should not subsidy the slavery for a nonviable business. That is the reason Wallmart, Amazon etc drive small businesses out of the market place. There is a cost of doing business, and that is one of the main competitive advantages that has created a bigger inequality gap. I love to debate you on economics, but this point is not up to debate, it's an economic fact.

The economy is about to experience inflation across the board, people are more inform now and not as willing to be slave labor.
You do realize that Walmart and Amazon pay higher wages while cutting the number people hired by leveraging technology right? How many check our lanes do you see at Walmart these days have a cashier? How many amazon facilities are being built being run by robotics. Changing the min wage will do little to provide basic and living subsistence. The ultimate outcome will be unskilled labor that were moved up to $15 will be replaced by robotics and they will be on welfare anyways. Also Walmart and Amazon squeeze small businesses out because they achieve economies of scale. These two businesses are infamous for selling at a lost until their competitors close down.
