My US citizen wife, that I've known since high school filed for me. The hardest part for me was leaving on advanced parole. I left and took 15k with me and left all my accounts under the power of someone else so that if I got stuck in el salvador I could get that money and start all over. I had consulted with an attorney before hand. Just remember any risk you take has to be an educated risk, even if it is a high risk, don't just jump blindly and expect good results.
