To give you another perspective about living in England: the British enjoy lots of vacation time! I believe they get like almost 30 days worth of paid vacation time a year, plus England's location makes in convenient to access the rest of Europe and the world. You could easily travel to Paris or Germany for the weekend if you wanted to. Also, London will be hosting the 2012 Olympics, that usually brings a huge impact to the host city so it'll be interesting to see what it does for the country.
