I wonder when he received DACA? He's only 22, and if he's had it since he was eligible at 16, he would not have the 3 or 10 year ban. This wouldn't guarantee him the ability to return or give him access to a path towards citizenship, but it's certainly preferable to invoking the ban upon leaving.
