Did you have to wait a long time for a new one?

I had my appointment before my cousin (just by a couple days) and he has already gotten his. I wonder if its because I already had a number and didn't just need to receive a new number? Its been about 2 weeks now, not too much but still worried.

I'm already working at a new job but the manager d0esn't seem too interested in seeing my new social so thats good but Id still like to have it!

I applied for an update of my SS card when I got my EAD 2 months ago. The SSA said they'll send out a letter confirming that my SS number got updated in conjunction with my EAD, but I haven't heard from them.

Wait you had a social before ead then got a new one after? Was it a new number or just a different card?

The old one says 'not eligible for work' so I need the new one that says I can work with a work permit.

I have to get this done now. I hope I get my card soon after, I'd be great to have everything ready so I can get a job before the end of the year! Question though, do you need an appointment to change cards or can you just do a walk-in?

This is so helpful since I've actually been wondering about this. I have an ssn card too, though it says valid with work permit only" (I used to have a work permit too) Do I need to update my card or get a new one? I remember commenting this issue to an immigration attorney and he said it didn't matter, I'll just keep my old ssn. However does anyone have any experience with this??

You should be good to go. Someone else had an experience on this here and the SSA told him he doesnt have to do anything.

Only people who have SSN's that say "Not Valid for Work" need a new SSN.

If you have "Valid for work only" youre fine.
