I dont know if someone has already answered this question but I have been hearing how some dreamers from CA got 5-year licenses (which is usually given to citizens) and not the 2-year license that we were supposed to get (this license should expire when our DACA expires).. so can anyone explain how they got 5-year or was it just pure luck? did you just give your SS or work authorization? 5-year license sounds awesome!

It depends on the person who handles your application. Some are nice and will give you the 5 year license.

No one has figured it out yet. Pure luck.

I don't care either way because I know renewing it will be easy.

My sister got a 2yr ID and I got a 5yr ID. Its all up to the person who processes your application. Being nice goes a long way.

i ended up getting a 2 year ID and 5 year license. I was told by one of the driver examinee that it does not depend on DMV it goes to sacramento and they decide.

Sacramento? Dude they process your form right before you take your DL picture. It depends on the DMV officer.

it depends on the person processing the app. not all DMV personnel know the rules about processing EADs.

Now with the real act in action it doesn't matter if your dl is 5 years. Once your ead expires your dl expires with it.

Hey you guys I just need advice. Tomorrow I'm taking my permit test and was wondering what to take. Should I take my EAD card, documents received by mail and.my.passport? Thanks!

I took more than I needed, but all they asked me for was my EAD which will serve as your ID and your SS card. I took my birth certificate and when I showed it, they gave it right back to me and asked me for something from immigration. That's when I gave the lady my EAD card.

All they really need is your EAD card to verify your legal presence, thinking about it now, I don't even think I handed anyone my actual SS card. I just wrote the number down on the application and that was it.
