The Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice has an office dedicated to ensuring that employers do not discriminate against individuals who are permitted to work in the U.S., including DACA recipients who have been granted work-authorization.Employers cannot ask DACA recipients for more or different work-authorization documents than what is permitted for the Form I-9 and cannot reject valid work-authorization documents because of a DACA recipient’s citizenship status or national origin. It is also unlawful for an employer to fire or refuse to hire DACA recipients because of their
national origin.

Thanks, Ianus.

I wonder, though... the regulations say that employers cannot reject work authorization documents with a future date but... can they retract an offer of employment after they realize the applicant has a work permit expiring... say, next year?

Oh sorry.
PhD students usually get paid by professors from NIH grant.
When I got DACA and employment authorization my professor tried to add me to payroll but the project manager from NIH told her basically that DACA was nothing and she could not add me.
I wanted to know if this applied here or if anybody had a similar situation.

Private school or public? what kind of form did you submit? Because its payroll here, DACA is more than enough. You are lawfully equip to work anywhere which does not require a USC status

I remember when I was in graduate school certain grants required the person to be a green card holder or US citizen. The professor had a hard time finding someone to work on the project because there were so many international students in the program. Since this is an NIH grant that might be the reason.

Well this one is an R01 it has no requirements for greencard/citizenship since the majority of the lab is international and they get paid.
I'm not sure that is why I was asking if anyone was in the same situation
