Hi everybody,
I will be flying from LAX to Newark next months and I´m a little worried. It´s my first flight since I came to the US 5 years ago and overstayed. What worries me the most is I don´t have a California drivers license yet and only my original european passport (still valid). Will that be enough?
I´m also worried about the time ahead I had to book the ticket (actually someone else booked it for me). Doesn´t that give them enough time to check out my status?
I read somewhere that a guy was arrested being undocumented while boarding a plane for a flight within the US. He was working for the government or something.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.

If you show them your passport, they might flip through the pages to look for your visa stamp. If its expired then i'm pretty sure they're going to ask questions.

I thought they'd check for a visa only within a 100 miles of a border.

Hmmm... I read that if you open it to the picture page they most likely don´t do that. What about a european driver´s license? Would that work?

@IamAman:
It´s LAX. Basically it´s on the border (the ocean) but the actual border of Mexico is about 130 miles away.

Dude i fly with my unstamped foreign passport all the time, all over the country, even unincorporated US territories. You're fine.

Just walk up to TSA when it's your turn, and flip your passport to the picture page with your boarding ticket on top. Act normal.

Thank you, bisuitneck.
I should also mention that I`m from a country that doesn´t need a visa (Visa Waiver Program). We just have to register electronically and get a stamp once we enter the US. Nothing else.

Then even more so, i'm sure you're fine. Clearly they aren't worried about people from your country immigrating illegally.

Update:
I flew yesterday from LAX to Newark without a problem.
I put the boarding ticket right next to the picture/ID info page of my passport and gave it to her open. She checked the name and put the passport under a test thingy (I guess it was to check if it´s a real passport). Green light came on and I was good to go.
