Hi i would like to share my experience

I applied for AP on june 20 2013 and got approved on july 3, I applied for humanitarian advance oarole i submited a medical transcript from my aunt she went through heart surgery that was my excuse to see her, I submited a medical transcript translated certified from a webpage and also my birth certificate to proof i was related to my aunt, 2 passport pictures. i asked for 4 months of AP but they gave me 5 months for one single entry.

I Reccomend to any traveling with AP to travel on plane both ways because I travel through bus from dallas to monterrey and at the border they ask you for a visa and lots of questions... On my way back to dallas i used american airlines when you buy the ticket or reserve they ask you for passport and visa just give your ap document either( you get two) and your passport and ead card.. No questions asked ( well not to me) . when you arrive to the us just give your passport Ap and ead card to the uscis guy. No questions asked (not to me), they send you to some room to check your documents i waited for an hour ten they called me up and stamped my ap document ( paroled until xx xx xxxx then the letters AOS, i got an i94 and my passport got stamped with too... No questions asked( not to me) and i just went home... Im 19 years old.

i only travel for 10 days i had to comeback for personal reason I already applied for a extension of AP for a year multiple entry i let you know how it goes oh and you receive two aps one for you one for them. JUST DONT TRAVEL BY GROUND and you will be let back don't get nervous any questions let me know!

Awesome, thanks for posting this. Assuming you went to Mexico, correct?

You just made my day! I am trying to figure out what my compelling reason could be to get advance parole and my dad lives in Mexico and I have not seen him in 4 years, but he has no medical issues. What could I use? I MUST get advance parole so I can re-enter the USA legally and then my husband can request to adjust my status, he is a USC.

I just found out that my dad needs knee surgery in Jan 2014, he lives in Mexico. I am wondering if this would be a compelling reason for me to get AP.
What reasons did you give USCIS of why you had to be there? After all, she is your aunt, not mom/dad. Did you have to explain why you had to absolutely be there for her or did the doctor write a letter for you?

I'm not trying to intrude but you could say that your dad is going to need your help after the surgery and may need help adjusting. And basically what people are doing for AP is writing the reason on the application and putting evidence of the need (doctor's letter, surgery date, whatnot).

Thanks for the advice Malignon. I just asked my dad for evidence from his doctor, I hope it helps. How long does it take to hear back from USCIS to know if I have been approved or not?

Most of the people who applied would get AP almost immediately (especially if it's humanitarian need). Most are reporting 1 month wait from time of application to time of getting the AP. You can check out the threads on AP and the stories.
