Immigration authorities will require an in-person interview for certain applicants for green cards, a change likely to slow the process of obtaining one.

The new requirement, which was confirmed Friday by a spokesman for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, will apply to anyone moving from an employment-based visa to lawful permanent residency. Visa holders who are family members of refugees or people who receive asylum will also be required to undergo an in-person interview when they apply for provisional status, a stage that precedes receiving a green card, according to USCIS.

Sucks that it will probably slow the process down, but doesn't seem like that crazy or unreasonable of a step.

I don't care if the U.S wants to make its screening process more stringent, or if it wants to reduce levels of immigration because honesstly a sovereign nation has the right to do these things. Even enforcement I don't mind because again, a sovereign nation has the right to do these things.

DREAMers are a different category because they/we were brought here.

IF, and that's a big if, DACA survives this month (w/sessions being the main adviser right now), we may be expected to do the same.

Unfortunately, anyone w/any experience w/these interviews knows they are performed with extreme prejudice (not the racial kind), and many times the interviewer is looking for any excuse to deny.

Our only hope is Trump's pettiness is big enough to ignore Sessions over his recusal on Russia.

There is nothing in the law that permits the president to bestow citizenship or any kind of status on a group of people.

Closest thing is designating a country for TPS.
