Sorry if this has been discussed before. I did a search and found a lot of threads of homeownership but none directly answered my question.

I am having a really hard time getting preapproved for a home loan. I have tried Chase, Wells Fargo, Pennymac and 2 credit Unions near me. I am very upfront about the C33 DACA work permit and they all say that I qualify per Fannie Mae guidelines buy they don't offer loans to this category yet.

I know other people have done it, and I am sure in Chicago there has to be somebody somewhere that can get me a loan. Does anyone have a bank / credit union online or in the Chicago area who has approved loans for DACA recipients?

I am 25 years old, middle credit score is 805,no debt, income is 120-130k per year, I have 50k in cash for a downpayment and another 120k in investment/retirement accounts. I could save up a couple more years and just pay cash, but I would highly prefer a loan. This is one of those things that gets complicated because I don't have a simple piece of paper.

Sorry for venting and please PM or reply if you have any info on home loans in Chicago. Thanks.

If you are serious about it. I can ask my loan officer if he has any connections over there.

Definitely serious about. Looking to buy within the next 2-6 months. I've already started doing walkthroughs and open houses. I just can't seem to get anyone for pre-approval. It's always "everything looks great and lines exept our investors/owners/program currently do not support the C33 DACA for loans". Even though Fannie Mae's guidelines allow it.

What neighborhoods are you looking into?

I really like Lincoln Park and Ukrainian Village.

Closer to Ukranian Village. Lincoln park is nice, but i'm looking closer to the west/north side of the city and suburbs.

I had a hard time getting a loan when I was DACA. (Do not do BoA, assholes). I ended up doing owner to owner financing and once I became a LPR i refinanced. I refinanced with these guys and they were great and closed me in less than a month. They're located in Berwyn, bordering with Oak Park. Might wanna give them a call and see if they'll help you finance with just DACA:

Also, The Resurrection Project in Pilsen has a realty section that does help you find financing with DACA. Might wanna call them too.

Just texted my loan officer. I’ll let you know what he says.

Pilsen is dope. It used to be run by the Czechs, now it's a predominately Latino community.
