That's basically the same thing as doing a Service Request but should be done only when the Service Center doesn't respond to the Service Request.

I've e-mailed the CSC before, but it was for an RFE.

Yes, because I wrote down the Service Request number in the e-mail, which the National Customer Service Center gives you after doing a Service Request.

I did it about two weeks ago. This is what they told me on March 20th, 2013:

"Type of service requested:
-- Outside Normal Processing Times

The status of this service request is:

Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact customer service at the number provided below.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Please remember: By law, every person who is not a U.S. citizen and who is over the age of 14 must submit Form AR-11 AND notify this office of their change of address, within 10 days from when they move (persons in "A" or "G" nonimmigrant status are exempt from this requirement). To notify this office of a move, visit our website at: www.uscis.gov or call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283. The Form AR-11 can be downloaded from our website or you can call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 and we can order one for you. Instructions for filing the Form AR-11, including mailing instructions, are included on the Form.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services"

Basically, telling me to wait another 6 months.

I don't think anyone has heard anything besides that answer from doing a Service Request or e-mailing them.

so i just got an answer yesterday

Good morning,

Based on your request we researched the status of these cases. We are actively processing these cases. However, we have to perform additional review on the cases and this has caused a longer processing time. If you have not received a decision or other notice of action on these cases within 90 days from the date of this message, please contact us for updates.

USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in a timely and efficient manner while also ensuring public safety, national security and compliance with all relevant directives. While the processing steps for most applications or petitions are completed quickly, a small percentage of cases involve unresolved issues that may result in adjudication delays.

The National Customer Service Center’s toll free number is 1 800 375 5283 or you may access the CIS web site at www.uscis.gov should you have any further questions or need additional information.
