Cornyn pans Texas lawsuit to end DACA: ‘I honestly don’t understand’

“I honestly don’t understand what the state is asking for” in filing a lawsuit to stop the program, Cornyn said Friday in Dallas. “Right now, the issue looks like it’s going all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court. They’re gonna decide whether DACA can be ended.”
In September, President Donald Trump moved to end DACA, prompting several legal challenges that are moving forward. Cornyn believes that Trump’s actions will be upheld, which will make it more urgent for Congress to act -- no matter what happens with Texas’ lawsuit.

“There’s a saying in Washington, D.C., that some people want a solution while others want an issue they can use for the next election,” Cornyn said.

This is probably the reason Paxton filed the lawsuit. Most likely scenario is the SCTOUS will side with the administration. Ending the program and phasing out the current DACA recipients. This is warning call, in my opinion. Get your applications in, even if its over 150 days. The extra time added to your status will help you weather the storm.

There will be at least some sort of extension of DACA eventually, just don’t expect anything with a path to critizenship or GC. That has already been the plan B if a permanent solution wouldn’t agreed to. The court injunction just stopped everything legislatively.

TX lawsuit asked for preliminary injunction, does this mean that we cannot renew until the case is closed? What about the ruling from CA and NY that allow us to renew?

Most likely, but then what is the point of ending DACA just to implement something similar? I know it's an Obama era EO and look at as unconstitutional, but no legislation would make sense without a path citizenship. Just my thought and opinion on the subject.

That’s ECW. He’s been cheerleading the fucking bridge act since late 2016. The Trump admin will demand Millers multiple pillar plan for the bridge act? Yea I can totally see Dems voting for that. Especially as 2020 gets closer...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the window is still open to renew. I think next year the SCOTUS will take up the case.

Yeah, the whole thing so far has been BS. There is literally a bunch of bills right now addressing the subject but not one can come to the floor for vote. We are just pawns in a chest game for both sides.

An extension is just as likely as a clean dream act.
Wont happen sorry to destroy your dreams

“In America, we don’t hold children responsible for the mistakes their parents made,” Cornyn said.
And yet after all these years of DREAM Act being discussed we ARE being held responsible for the decision our parents made. #CornynCon
