I noticed most people there had the digitized camo uniforms on still, I think we're getting the new design once we get to reception.
Dang, I didn't know yours is worse. We get free lunch (but I don't like the food so I go out) and pre-bcts also get LIK when you travel more than 50 miles.

How did you guys do it?
Use the same reference and provide explanation as to why

That's the policy yeah, but I think it all varies on who runs the place and how. With the amount of 'work' they had me do, I wouldn't provide lodging either lol.

Well, you can volunteer as KP (hated that job)... I don't know man, it just doesn't seem right. Technically you are already in the Army the moment you signed the contract. This just seems shady.

oh yeah thats right. it all depends on the budget. Some units are balling and some are struggling. My current unit allowed me uniform, lodging and for lunch we get go to golden corral. Not MREs like my unit.

You got me there, trust me I showed up expecting a full 10 hour shift but the reserve center seems already over staffed / pretty much don't want you to do anything in depth if you're not in uniform. Got passed around between few people because they were too 'busy' to sponsor me as FS which is a requirement since I'm not supposed to wander by myself, almost feels like a burden at that point.

At the end of the day I'm still getting paid as E-4 which is ironic considering the lowered ranked people were actually working, so not sure how to feel about that if they don't want to put me to full use.

One thing I noticed is that the reserve is pretty unorganized, me and a couple other pre-bcts had to just group together and do the in-processing by ourselves. Lucky you LostG

Hmm, they did take our uniform orders, which included ACUs, but I'm not sure if we'll get it even before we get back from basic, as I didn't see any of the older pre-basics wearing ACUS in the morning. They were still wearing their own exercise clothes if they chose to join PT (the commander of our unit says it's optional, and outside the unit, they don't even want us in PT, because we might get hurt or something before basic, but he's ok with it). I'll let you know if I end up receiving those beforehand though. They also issue the older newbies a CAC card reader and helmets and flourescent vests for the motorpool.

In terms of food, the first day we got pizza delivered, and the next day MREs were passed out, so some pre-basics and I just drove out to lunch--I heard there was chicken in the chow hall that day though. I guess I'll see how it'll work out the next coming drills with food. I did see a snack stand where some lower ranks were fundraising for the unit--they said usually pre-basics do that, so I'll probably be manning that snack stand at some point.

And same here, I seemed to be the only E-4 among the pre-basics, 10 years older than the youngest newbie (17/27), a lot of the people showing us around at the motorpool were privates/specialists, and a lot of sergeants were younger than me... hahaha sigh..
