GOP CO Sen Gardner on trying to get a DACA fix: We’re about to see whether this about policy or politics. If it’s about politics, then people will draw lines in the sand..If it’s about policy, then we’ll get an answer we can reach and will solve the DACA challenge before us.

Gardner on DACA fix: If Senator Schumer insists on playing politics, then I’m afraid we’re going to have problems. So I hope that cooler heads will prevail. We’ve had strong bipartisan process. We’ve got to get this done. I’m committed to it.

Schumer: I’m very glad about this, a bipartisan group of moderate Senators from both parties came together in a very inspiring way. Their efforts led to the agreement between the Majority Leader and me that an immigration bill will receive fair consideration in a few weeks

I understand how you feel, but the only thing we can do now is move forward and pressure.

Call/tweet. These smalls steps are better than nothing. Keep the pressure on.

One way to force Ryan to bring the bill up for vote is to have the house shut down the government just like the Senate did, sadly we don't have enough house votes for this to happen.

Only way is to attach it to must pass legislation, which the turtle said no to
If Schumer could've gotten that, then it would've been a win.

The other way is for Trump to support whatever deal is reached in the following weeks. Ryan will align as soon as Trump says the deal is "perfect" for America. Ryan and McConnell are Trump's puppets.

So, just hope that a good compromise is created and supported by Trump.

Being petty is human nature. It is the reason we're still in the situation we're in. It's why racism, sexism, homophobia and xenophobia exist. People are unwilling to give up minor annoyance and need scapegoats to blame for them. If other people are petty, I refuse to apologize for being so myself. It's a human idiosyncrasy.
Hell, this whole thread is petty and your comments about my statement are petty. I don't have any political power. Therefore, my opinion doesn't matter. So why are you so offended by it. It wasn't an attack on you. I didn't make a threat or call someone a libelous name. What difference does it make?

Okay. This act is getting old. Your attempts at creating a caricature of yourself as some person who has a unique mature wisdom about the world are failing. I made a statement that was contrarian to views by many posters and according to you, that's childish. In that case, dissent is childish. So apparently maturity means conformity. I guess adults are all sheep that keep their heads down and accept all the bullshit and injustice that the majority dishes out. I think your characterization is bull. MLK, Mandela, and other social justice warriors refused to be sheep and they made people's lives better. Surely they weren't childish? Now I'm not even close to as accomplished as these people. But I do believe that silencing is oppression and silence is complicity in that oppression.

Also Durbin has been elected numerous times and he hasn't made it a secret that he supports Dreamers. His vote wouldn't have derailed the bill but it would have been symbolic that he was committed to the dreamers even if it meant shutting the government down for a little longer.
