Because we are not white. If we were Ukrainians we would’ve been citizens a decade ago.

“There’s been nonstop efforts” to try to get an immigration fix in the omnibus bill, Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) told Vox, a move that’s complicated by how little time they have left and limited Republican interest. “There’s an effort to accomplish some immigration reform, but difficult to do in the last days of the session,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT). “The DACA recipients are a priority.”

As is the case with many policies, the main hold-up to any version of immigration reform is Republican support, and whether 10 senators would sign on. Previously, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) led the introduction of the DREAM Act, which also focuses on providing a pathway to citizenship for DREAMERs, and said there were four to five Republicans who were on board earlier this year.

Were lawmakers able to find a compromise on the issue, the omnibus likely would be their last best bet given the limited floor time the Senate has to work with. If they aren’t able to come to an agreement — a likely outcome — Congress might not be able to consider serious immigration reforms for at least another two years.

LOL, not surprised even one bit, but looks like some people are deluded still thinking that they will attach to the omnibus for us. It's crazy that time after time you people don't understand that either party has no interest or advantage in doing anything for us.

This is not Sinema or Tillis's job to fix - it's the Democratic Senate leadership's job.

It is not humane or acceptable to be able whip votes for marijuana but not to legalize undocumented workers. NY is short 9000 nurses. 9000 f* ing thousand. And thar is just the tip of the iceberg in healthcare. All roles are understaffed. Undocumented workers can fill that need.

- Title 42 is expiring, something republicans really want to keep.
- Federal reserve says US economy is short at least 3+ million jobs, businesses having trouble finding workers. It's a large driver for the current inflation and is very sticky.
- US birth rate at 1.6 per female, need 2.1 to just keep the current population.
- 1 million+ COVID deaths and counting. COVID hospitalizations are at a 4 month high.

Yet... there's no deal. I use to think that eventually common sense will prevail but time and time again, politics prove that it doesn't adhere to simple truths.
