I think it will play out like this; republicans will offer to codify and create a permanent DACA in exchange for birth right citizenship plus ~10 other immigration restricting “pillars”. Dems will say something like “dreamers cannot occupy the entire stage” so we do not agree. Repubs will start deporting DACA and blaming democrats because the democratic party failed to accept the great deal they were offering.

Make sure y’all got ur Plan-B’s in place.

You two are on to something.

Repubs will use the SCOTUS killing DACA to push some abusive shit.
I hope they don't use BC to bargain because the calculus will get ugly.

I don't know if the Dems would save us in exchange of Birthright Citizenship.

Saving BC is a greater cause to them than saving us.
Birthright Citizenship is a baby factory of Dem voters. It's what turned Cali into solid blue and made some border states competitive.

BC gives them millions of brand new voters. They will not sacrifice future millions to save a few thousands of close to middle age potential voters in the present.

Anyone thinking SCOTUS will kill DACA is stuck in Biden administration thinking. The Texas lawsuit claiming DACA was illegal, where Hanen found it was illegal, was defended by the gov.Biden was doing that, but you guys think Trump is going to defend it in front of Hanen? No, with Trump we are going back to you can dismantle it as long as you follow proper rules. There is no need for SCOTUS for that.

lol you're right.

Trump can order his AG not to defend it and that will kill it without a big showdown with SCOTUS and the big political fallout.

Dreamers start losing jobs and livelihoods. UWD gets richer. People go on the news crying yada yada. Dems raise tons of money from donors + blame Republicans. Republicans point fingers back at them.
Nothing gets done.

What a shit predicament we're in!

That's it.
Taking a break from all this .
Too much anxiety.

Blue States won't sit quiet though. And ACLU.

They will initiate suits to save DACA.

Don't discount Trump though.

He is fond of DACA.

Trump likes DACA for what he thinks he can trade it for. If he tries to trade it for birthright citizenship it will go nowhere. Like LEO already stated, the Dems will not trade a set quantity of DACA (or even all the dreamers) for a goose that lays the golden egg… and keeps laying the golden egg… over and over and over again.
