I entered with a visa at the age of 12. Processed at Nebraska Service Center, did 2 service requests.

Hey guys, I know this isn't a legal forum but I thought I'd ask just in case anyone else has had to deal with something like this. So my employer is asking for me to provide them with some form of document saying why my social security number changed (obviously I was working with a fake one before I was approved and got my number I have now) I can't really tell them that cause I'm afraid it'll cost me my job, the HR people are really being persistent so I'm just wondering what I can do? Can they really ask me for that? I'm gonna talk to a lawyer but they need it in a couple of days so I thought I'd ask here.

Let them know that no such form exists.. That your old number is no longer valid because it was only issued temporary and that now they have issued you a more current valid one. I think that the SSA website has an e-verify in which you can put your name and the previous number, so then the verification will come out saying that that ssn is invalid , or something like that, and then you can print that form to show to your employer. Maybe that will work.

In my opinion I think that they should not have to ask you that and just summit the new number.

just remember that saying the wrong thing can cost you your job.

In my onpinion I would highly recommend you talk to a lawyer before you say or do anything with your employer. It seems to me that when you changed your ssn, you sent some sort of red flag to HR about your legal status.

I think you misunderstood what initiald wrote. S/he writes that his/her employer wants some form of documentation explaining why ssn changed. The explaination documentation could come anyone like a lawyer, DHS, USCIS. Only in very rare extreme cases would ones' ssn ever change because you only ever get one number. The card may have restrictions on them but it's still the same number.

Each case is different than other so i would say consult with your attorney or called the USCIS and do e-request either by calling them or online. Wish you very best of luck.
Thanks!
Yeah I tried an E-request but apparently I'm still within the processing times, which is not true because it's usually at the most 6 months, but a year has passed already
Thanks again!

I wanted to update you guys on what I did, I printed off this form:
http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/f...nov20_2012.pdf
In case anyone else has to deal with this situation I have yet to hear back from them but I think that it's pretty self explanatory and they shouldn't ask me for any other documents but we'll see. I'll let you guys know if I'm still working there in a couple of weeks ha.
I want to thank everyone on this forum if it wasn't for you guys I would have been completely lost during this entire process since applying for DACA. Here's the thread I found that link in

Thanks for the advice I appreciate it, like I stated above I just sent them that paper so hopefully that works for them and if not then I'll just look for a new job.

I know some other people have talked about this same thing happening to them, about getting their EAD approved but the I-821D not approved or viceversa. In my case, I have my EAD approved, but not my I-821D.

I received my EAD card on 11/08/12. When I checked online, the I-821D was still under "initial review". I called USCIS before going to get my SSN and they said that with the EAD I was okay to go and get my SNN and license, and that sometimes it takes a while to update my case online and that I shouldn't be worried.

Now, I'm trying to apply at Miami Dade College. In order for me to qualify as a resident to pay in-state tuition, they need a bunch of documents from my mom, utility bills etc. and on top of that, they need my EAD card, the EAD notification from USCIS (which I received before the card came in the mail) and also the notification letter from USCIS about form I-821D, which I haven't received yet.

I'm checking now, and turns out that after a year I'm still under "initial review". I just need the letter to sign up for classes in the spring, apparently the EAD letter and card aren't enough to prove to the college that I'm a DACA student.

Has this happened to any of you? Did you find a way to get USCIS to approve your case or at least mail you a notification letter?

Thanks!!
Just wanted to give you guys a quick update on this in case anyone is going through the same situation:

I called USCIS and after speaking to an officer, they sent me a letter to my house about my case. Turns out that apparently they did send me the notice of approval for 821D last year around the same time I received my EAD, which you guessed it, I have not received. I also told the officer that online it's still shows "initial review", but according to the letter, it has been approved. In order for me to get the approval notice, I have to fill out form 824, which is $405, for a duplicate document of something that I have already been approved for!!! Unbelievable. But oh well, I need to have it so I'm making the effort to get it ASAP.
Make sure you check your mail carefully whenever you get a notice from USCIS.
Best of luck to everyone!

After 296 days or nine months, today USCIS approved my Dace case! It took forever but the wait is worth it. I have a tobacco under the age citation and i thought that would disqualify me.

Application Received: Feb 13th Nebraska SC
Bios: Mar. 19
Approval: Dec. 4
