since i gave up in school when i found out about my status circa 1998 aka junior year of HS, i gave up on alot. went from 4.0 to 2.9 (but back to 3.2 iby senior year). If i had maintained my grades who knows? stanford?

But SJSU treated me good and im glad to be done

Guys don't stop trying! If you've got the grades and profile of an Ivy Leaguer, don't be afraid to apply and be upfront about your situation with caution of course. Although I didn't get into any of the Ivies I applied to, I still got into my first choice, Swarthmore College. Fortunately for me, the college meets the full financial need of every accepted student. Don't let lack of money stop you.

With or without papers, paying college is a pain. Ivy Schools are super expensive ( $60,000 for Harvard, a year) and don't expect to be able to pay it with a part time job. You've got apply for scholarships like crazy!!! There are so many out there... But I guess we'll do that tomorrow, or the day after that, or the next... Who knows!

I almost went to Swarthmore! It's a great school. And I agree with what you said. If an Ivy wants you, they will fund your education, so there is really no excuse for not applying.

thank you!
i often feel like i ran out of fuel so to speak b/c i find myself not
willing to do anything anymore. its weird b/c im well aware of the fact that
everything i do has a purpose, but i just cant seem to get myself to do anything. i feel like such a paradox.

One too many. The cool thing is that I won't even be applying to those schools for the PhD, with the exception of Berkeley. I'm glad I ended up at Calstatela. I was able to afford two BA's and two MA's. And, I still had enough money left over for a bag of chips.

I had to give up stevens institute of technology, rensselaer polytechnic institute, rochester institute of technology, washington university, kettering, florida international university, and a few others i can't recall the name to at the moment, all for financial reasons and because I could neither get a loan or comply with their ostentatious requests.

of all of those stevens was the hardest to give up, but it was also the one that had the most extreme requests due to my status. I also think what if... but then I hope to turn that around and if the DA passes to do a lot more with this school that did accept me and gave me a scholarship and just think that they missed out.

but whatever, I got into a pretty good school and through some playing around managed to bring the cost down enough to make it affordable, all at the cost of my sleep... i just have to travel 5 hours a day, but I read and study on the train.
