This is about justice. Democrats need to fight; I did not see a fight. With all due respect to Den. Durbin, negotiate better or fight harder.

Sen. Schumer and Nancy Pelosi need to figure out a strategy stat. Their silence is disappointing.

How do you negotiate when the other party is not willing to compromise at all? Dems have to blame themselves for losing all the leverage they had.

I like to view people's actions based on motives. The Republicans for the most part don't care about us. Their motive to help us is the wall and other immigration reforms. That's what their base wants, and if they can get that, they'll obviously look good and get votes. As for the Democrats, their motive for helping us comes from the fact that most of us will undoubtedly vote Democrat once we legalize. In my state of Michigan, there are about 7k DACA recepients.. Trump got my state by about 9k votes. Now if Democrats can allow my parents to legalize through me or my sister, that's another 2 Democrat voters. When you look at the rest of us DACA recepients with family in Michigan, you'd be able to turn this state blue because if we legalize and our parents legalize thanks to the Dems... Well.. You got yourself a lot more voters in the long term. Anyways, if Trump gets his wall for a continuation of DACA, I can assure you the issue will lose all of its momentum and we're all going to have to look for other ways to legalize. No point in shooting ourselves in the foot for momentary/cheap relief

This is what we have been reduced to. An opinion piece telling the party that is supposedly fighting for us to stop doing so.

Holy shit, what a dark future we have ahead of us.

As much as I hate the fact that Dems gave up on the shutdown. We have to realize that they represent 10 of millions of other American citizens who are able to vote for them. Keeping the government shutdown for us DREAMers would of hurt their constituents and possibly ruin their chances of ever holding down a branch of government for a very long time. We all see what happens when Republicans hold every branch so we can't let that happen. People who have DACA renew while you can and other dreamers hold on and be cautious. We're in for a long fight.
