Shes is right to some degree. Because most software engineering or computer sciences (I still don't understand what is a computer science degree I figure its a cross between electrical and software?) just need a computer and internet, its easy to outsource them. But interesting enough, just because they can be outsourced doesn't mean we are outsourcing every software engineering job.

This report was in 2012 but it's still true today.

http://www.infoworld.com/t/it-jobs/d...alaries-205254

The USA just has the best colleges and universities in the world and thus our graduates are just better fitted to enter the working world. I am always hearing how jobs are being outsourced to India and whatnot but then I read articles like this http://www.economist.com/node/15393732. A 4.2% of India graduates are actually ready to enter the working world. Ironically enough, India companies have began outsourcing their work to other countries because India tech graduates just are not qualified enough http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...863219826.html

Look around you when you're out. Every one has a smartphone and/or tablet with them. Laptops are slowly being replaced by something smaller and more common and with this, the rise of software jobs are rising. My saying is: Every idea has been created but this doesn't stop you from improving this idea. How can I make this idea more efficiently? Think of Livejournal, myspace and facebook. http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2009...-social-media/

Once the idea of Social Media site came alive, it didn't stop developers from finding something better. They didn't say, "well damn it someone already came up with a social media site!!!!" No they said, "well what can we do to make it better?" And sure enough we have Facebook. I am sure Facebook will be replaced by something better, I don't know what but I said the same thing with MySpace and look now.I think Justin Timberlake is co-owner of it now. And bam Facebook came and took over. The point really, with software, the possibilities are endless because there will always be a way of making something run effectively or better.

On another note: The use is producing way to many scientists http://www.scientificamerican.com/ar...-produce-too-m

Computer science is just that - the science and theory of computation. It's coming up with algorithms that perform tasks in the most efficient way. But anyway, I think it's like everything else. If you just get a degree and have no interest in the subject matter, you'll have a harder time finding a job. I have a buddy who works for a major bank as a programmer and he can have his choice of any programming job he wants because he is a proven asset. Someone like me on the other hand would have to start at the bottom as a Jr. Developer, kiss ass, and learn the ways and move up.

I hear a lot of people with really good degrees not being able to find a job but if you have a STEM degree and are not finding a job. You are not networking or not living in an area with high hiring rates. But network as a lot to do with landing on a nice job. I think 80% of the jobs are given internally and just 20% are made public.

you know to be honest, neither really matters. As long it has engineering at the end. you ll find jobs anywhere. I say this because I work with mechanical engineers who applied for an electrical field job and vice versa.

if you apply for any engineering job in other state, how is the interviewing done? Skype? Do big companies pay for relocation expense?

no my husband is a permanent resident and the reason y he couldn't have jobs is because most CS jobs will not hire you unless you are extraordinary or at least have couple of years of experience. he had a really good GPA but trust me, companies would rather hire someone in China and India pay them $500 a month than hiring someone here in America whereas jobs like electrical, mechanical ,aerospace, robotics, software (which is a mix of electrical and CS), chemical, biomedical engineering etc are onsite jobs that cant be shipped.
PS: i am saying you wont get a job, but it wont be easy.... he even had interviews with entry-level jobs but then still require experience.
