Lucky! NOT in CA! It depends who you get. They only put what it says on your EAD. So 2 years. Some people get lucky and get the really really nice ones and they just put the 5 years...

How long does it take got get an ID/DL in CA? and if they issued you a ID receipt, and the driver's permit, is that mean they verified you with the Social Security??

When you apply for an ID and or a DL they verify with USCIS AND SSA when you give them your application.

ID:
They do not give you a temp ID, just a piece of paper as a receipt for your ID, the day you apply. It takes 2 weeks to get your ID in the mail.
Cost: $26.00

DL: You will need to take the 36 question test the day that you apply. They take your picture, then the test. If you pass, they give you the permit right then and there. You will have to take the Behind the Wheel test. If you pass you get a temporary drivers license. It takes 2 weeks for the DL to arrive in the mail.
Cost $31.00

I just applied for my original SSN today(Technically yesterday, after seeing the time) at a Social Security Administration office right after getting my EAD in the mail. How do you know when your number has been generated? I only got a receipt telling me that I should have my card in about 2 weeks or less. I REALLY want to get my ID and DL as soon as possible hehe, and the original post says that Texas takes printouts.

I'm in Houston, if that matters.

Cool, thanks. I just wasn't sure if they verify your information right at the moment, or your it takes time for them to verify. (Just like the SSA). I actually went back to the SSO, and they told me DMV just checks with them and not DHS. Hopefully, we all get it soon (and not wait the 60 days), and finally have a proper way to identify ourselves.

I went on North Carolina's DMV website on their requirements and I copy and pasted what it said for proof of SSN.
Proof of Social Security
One of these documents is needed to establish proof of Social Security:

Social Security Card (no metal cards)
1099 Form
W-2 Form
DD-214 Form
Property tax Record
Payroll Record/Pay Stub
Social Security Document reflecting the Social Security Number
Military ID Card/Military Dependents Card
Medicaid/Medicare Card reflecting the Social Security Number

So, that being said, "Social Security Document reflecting the Social Security Number" would count as the print out showing the number right?

Anyone? I would really like to know. New to this, as most here are.

it usually takes less than 48 hrs so walk in on Monday and say something like "I didn't get a reference # and I'm just wondering if I can have one so I can keep track of the status of my app and know when I have a social # assigned to me" The rep will most likely give you a print out with your # in it.
