2face I know what you are talking about I have seen on numerous occasions people trying to buy a whole bunch of candy and junk food as if they were groceries and trying to pay for everything with food stamps, have known of people that take advantage of the system because they can and get benefits they are not entitled to. The scrutiny is not there and funds are being misused, however, everyone should not be punished indiscriminately for the misdeeds of a few, and too much time should not be taken to make sure the person qualifies for a certain benefit as the risk could signify someone does not have food on the table or a roof over their heads.
But I do not not see government being too agresssively trying to prevent this fraud. I mean people had to literally twist governments arm to get half a dozen investigators to investigate medical fraud cases that are costing billions of dollars per year, but guess what those half dozen investigators have halted and stopped billions of dollars of fraud from taking place.
Medical fraud is one that if it happens it may be large enough to justify the man hours and resources involved for those cases, however, I feel their notion regarding welfare might be that the amunt of man hours and resources that would have to be employees on a per case basis might not be justifiable. I understand that explanation, I don't understand why they don't create a system that can be both efficient and ensure people are using the benefits for what they are supposed to.
But there are still fortune 500 corporations paying zero in taxes and some getting tax payer funded benefits, CEOs paying 15-18% in taxes when all their employees and those with middle and lower income class pay twice as much just because they can't afford a corporate jet to get tax cuts on the fuel and reduced tax rates on an estate or vacation homes. Ultimately all these tax reducers on goods the average person would not be able to afford reduces the what a wealthy person has to pay out of their income while the goods are still assets that have value.
