I came to the U.S. when I was 12, and I was very happy because I knew I was going to have a better life and better opportunities. All my dreams came crashing down when I graduated from high school because somebody told me that I needed a ssn to get into a college or a university. I was disappointed but I didn't give up, my mom told me that I should put my pin# or ITIN on the applications that I filled out to colleges and universities. Most of the ones I applied to denied my application because I wasn't a resident or a citizen, my pin# didn't matter. But the very last one I applied to which is CCCCD accepted me and I've been going there for the past 4 years, and I'm going to get my Associate of Science this December. I want to continue my education once I get my Associate's degree but that's not going to be possible because of my status. If the DREAM Act passes, it would be a great step towards the job we've always dreamed of!!
