With the dismal outlook of the upcoming elections for Democrats due to, in large part Latinos not voting, I find that a sense of urgency for Obama to pass immigration reform soon after November a necessity if he wants to stay in office. Also, having more Republicans in the Senate, even up to the point of them being the majority, could pass an immigration bill swiftly and decisively. Republicans want the fastest voting block on their side. Plenty of them realize the inevitable swing in demographics. If you look at the last two presidents (Reagan and Bush) who passed, or almost passed, an immigration bill; they were both Republicans. It seems to me that when Republicans support immigration reform they act boldly. As for the Democrats, it is all talk, talk, talk, and oh yea, more talk.
