Just to give you guys a brief background on myself. I was born in Mexico and my parents decided to move to california when i was 4. Like most of you I had no clue what was going on until 6th grade when I realized i was in the same boat most of you are in. I finished high school and went to college, but only got 2 years done. I transfered to a 4 year only to discover that i didn't qualify for in-state tuition. So I tried to save money and pay the out-of state tuition only to discover how expensive it was. I then decided that I couldn't afford college so i took matters into my own hands. I started a couple of small businesses, which helped me generate some money so that i could make a living for myself. With the help of my brother, we both got them started. The only way this was able to work was because my brother is a U.S citizen and the businesses are under his name. It does suck to say that they are his but hey, its ok for now. I am currently waiting for my papers to go through and its been a long long time. Im 24 now and I've been waiting for about 8 years, and from what my lawyer said i have more or less than 5 years left. So for now im just living my life "under the radar" waiting for something to come through. Only advice that i can share with you guys is that, we must never doubt ourselves or think less of ourselves for not having the legal documentation. If anything pride yourselves in the hardwork and determination each one of you holds. Furthermore, life dealt us with this hand but if you know how the game is played you will come out a winner. In closing i want to praise the creator of this site for bringing everyone closer together and letting us know that we are not alone in these circumstances. Great Job!!! Before I forget, we need to call our senators, or house reps. our governors everyone and let them know how important the dream act is and we must keep pushing forward no matter what.
Hey, My name is Angel i just read Caliharo's Story is very impressive and amazing, i'm sure everyone has an amazing story to tell, mine is a little similar to caliharo's.
I'm from Mexico too Veracruz, Cordoba my parents brought me here when i was only 11 in 2000, my dad has been here since 1996 but he went to mexico for us, in 2000. I know most of you know but Crossing the border is a living hell, for some americans is a joke, " OO look at those wetbacks, is soo wasy to cross the border", when is not, is not easy to leave your best friends, to leave your family, to leave your nation and is sad, and senators can't see that. Anyways in 1996 my dad work for 2 years in Construction with a very good friend of him, in 2000 thankgod we got here safe.. in MD my dad start his own bussiness in construction he work for him self, at that time we were only 5, me, my brother, sister, steph-mother, dad. we lived in a basement my dad was paying $500 a month, as time got pass my dad was working very hard, each day, get up at 5 am, n be home at 8-9 pm, like most of our parents work 2 years later we rent a house a complete house my dad bought 2 work vans he had his tools, his own clients, then 2 years later in 2004 my dad's friend told him that he could rent a bigger house, a house with a basement, 5 rooms, 2 bath, the house we're living now, we lived ina white zone, i dont hate americans, they're nice people i got nothing against them so now in 2007 the family grew, me, my brother, my sister had a baby, she moved out of the house, but we still keep in touch, we brought my steph-mother's sister, illegaly and my uncle, my steph-mother's sister was diagnos with Acute Lymphotic Leukemia 2 weeks ago, she been in the Hospital, i thnik we found a medicare insurance that can cover us all the payments, and she just graduated from high School and she is planning to go to a Community College , because is the only place where they Accept Undocumented Students in Md, the good news is that the Doctors told us that they found 0.0% of leukemia in her blood, i cry for happiness, anyways My Dream is to become an Architect, why? My dad works in house Improvement , i know a little bit, i want to get involve more tho, is a beautiful job, even tho some American-spanish kids say is a job for wetbacks, is a better job then to be working at a Giant, or to be working at a bank where you get pay $12 hr. in Construction i can put my own price for a whole estimate make more then a 1,000 a week, but yes of course theres that obsticle that we all Undocumented Students have, No Resident, No Citizen, no SS#, no nothing damn, anyways i just hope that my story kinda inspires some of you guys, o and 1 more thing i'm very sick and tired of people calling us Illegal Alien, "Alien" We're not Aliens, we have the same cells, Brain, arms, Legs, Eyes, Ears, we are Human Beings, not some damn animals, aliens, or Slaves, we are people, and we do not want to harm this country, i love this country i lov U.S's Culture, if going to college and get a nice degree and help progress this country is a bad, then what are the senators thinking, they want us to leave?, we cant leave, they want us to work in low jobs for the rest of ourlives, Hell No Thats why we teenagers we can make the difference by studying hard and show them that we care about this countyr and that we are Americans too.
