Ladies and Gents…. I’m out!

Since mid July I’ve been living it up in Europe and having a pretty awesome time. I’ve been leaving the US for a very long time, and just found it impossible to just take the jump. I’ve built a really comfortable life for myself in the US. Had a great career, friends, owned a home, two cars and a boat. No debt other than my mortgage (1/5 value of my house). In order to finally really motivate myself to take the plunge I put significant amount of money down on a home in Europe before the presidential election (so I was leaving regardless if Trump or the “girl boss” won). I gave up on both parties and feel like both are full of shit especially when it comes to immigration or resolving any serious issues. Getting ready for the move was an immense effort. It was a lot more demanding than I thought it would be. I had to prepare the house for sale, get rid of some of my stuff and preparé other things to get shipped. I would recommend to others who will go through this to get rid of or sell as much as they can before the move. The stuff I shipped (shipping container) got stuck with EU customs and that was probably the most stressful part of the entire process. So I am here, in Europe, free of the immigration headaches. I don’t know what the future will bring but so far so good and it has been a great decision to leave the mess of the US behind. Oh, and I still work for the same company I worked for in the US. I was an W2 employee in the states and now I am working for them as a 1099 contract worker (same pay).
