For the Removal we filled out the I-751 form and submitted our evidences as well.
OMG!! seriously!! What state do you live in? It took Me about 6 months from start to finish to get my Conditional Card, live in Delaware. I thought you could only apply for citizenship 3 yrs into having your 10yr GC. How are you able to apply for your citizenship?

3 years starts counting from the day your AOS is approved, regardless of if you get a conditional (2 yr) or unconditional (10 yr) green card. Only limitation is that your N-400 cannot be processed until your I-751 is approved.

So lets say this happens:
You get your conditional green card.
21 months pass you and you file I-751.
USCIS drags their feet on your I-751. You can actually file N-400 up to 90 days prior to your third anniversary of AOS even if your I-751 is still pending.

I'm in MA. It took 7 months from start to finish to get my Conditional Green Card back in 2016. There seems to be a backlog for the I-751, that's why they are giving out 18 month extension letters instead of 12 months. That will buy you enough time to apply for citizenship depending on how fast the processing for the I-751 goes. No, you don't need to have the 10 year card first, Demise summed it up.

Demise summed it up nicely, that's exactly it!

Hey y’all. So I had my interview 01-17-2019 and we were in there for 10 mins. The officer had his mind on approving us before we stepped in the door. So today I received my approval notice and I’m quite shocked. I’ve been reading of this for years and I thought I was getting a welcome letter lol. I got one that says my application is approved and I might get called in for biometrics for my green card. Anyone else???
Is it because I’m already in the US? My class is IR6

I don't see why they would need biometrics at this very advanced stage.

In fact, I think you can simply go to your field office with the approval letter to get an I-551 stamp in your passport. You should be good to go now.

Hi guys!!! WE GOT APPROVE TODAY! Soo here goes my AOS story;
AOS docs filed 10/21/2017
Biometrics completed 11/9/2017
Status change: Case ready to be scheduled for interview 1/5/2018
EAD approved 1/31/2018
Filed for EAD Renewal 12/3/2018
Status change: Interview has been scheduled 12/6/2018 (interview scheduled for today, 1/23/2019)
A little bit about our case, we are a same sex couple. I was previously married to a man back in 2011 and an I130 was filed back then. We separated before our I130 was even approved so nothing was ever done about that case. Although we had been separated for years and we had both moved on with our lives, we hadn’t gotten around to get divorced. Our divorce was finalized in February of 2017. My wife and I had been living together and had an established relationship since 2013, I am lucky to have her and grateful she understood the situation for what it was. Anywayyy, fast forward to the good stuff, we got married in August of 2017. While our case was still being processed we filed taxes for the first time together, went on 4 trips, we got a dog, added each other to our life insurance policies, and made sure all our bills were under both of our names, and we also moved within the same city. So that took up most of our evidence that we presented today. Our appt was in Phx, it was scheduled for 9:05am but we didn’t get called in until about 9:45ish. The officer was very to the point with everything. He seemed very experienced. He was looking through all our paperwork while asking us questions. He did start off by saying-not asking- That I clearly am now with a woman and I was with a man before, he didn’t dig too much into that like I thought he was! I gave a very simple answer about how I dated woman after my ex and that was that. Most of the interview he kept asking us about dates and anniversaries and who proposed to who and how we met. In the beginning of our relationship we were a little bit long distance so he wanted to know more about how we ended up living in the same city. After we explained how we met and how we got engaged he said my application would be approved. He then went on to flip through our paperwork some more and asked about our new address. He did make me take my biometrics again, while in the office with him. He had a little camera and a finger scanning device. He was not too nice but wasn’t rude either. The interview lasted about 30 minutes. My wife and I are both so happy and relieved!
