Recently, I was approved AP through humanitarian reasons and it's good for six months and multiple entries. My question is, can I stay for more than a month in the country where I plan to visit? My father is diagnosed with lung cancer and I really don't think we have much time left to spend together so I figured I wanted to spend as much time as possible with him. However; my concern is when I get back and apply for DACA renewal this year. If I stay away for more than a month, would it affect my continuous presence? Also, how exactly do multiple entries work? I received two documents like everyone else, but I was expecting to received a little more than that. One last thing, when the officers at port-of-entry ask you how I am going to adjust my status, what should I answer? I read it somewhere from another thread that the OP was asked this question when she/he was entering US again with AP. And I was asked the same question when renewing my passport at the consulate.
Thank you for reading all this and I hope I get some answers from you. Thank you.
Sorry to hear about your father. I will pray for your family. You can only stay for the time period allowed in your AP. They have given this time to you based on your initial request in your application. However, I strongly recommend you book a flight like at least a week before your AP is set to expire. You never know when a flight can be cancelled or delayed due to weather. Also make sure you leave only after the date your AP is effective. Read the dates carefully. There should be absolutely no effect on your DACA renewal. You can use your AP for the full time allowed. But you better make sure you step back in this country before that AP expires or else you won't be allowed back in.. Don't sweat t about the questions from agents at airport. As long as you have your EAD, AP doc, passport and DACA doc you are golden. If they do ask you that just say you plan on consulting with an attorney. Good luck.
