The American people want to stop couraging illegal immigration--they view this piecemeal as a loophole to allow families to be sponsored. However, what they do not care to realize is that it will take a long process to sponsor a family member before being eligible to do so; the person would have to be a US citizen. According to the Dream Act bill, we would have to under-go the process of applying and then have legalization; and then apply for citizenship. This would take (approximately) more than 10 years before we can actually sponsor a family member.
Anayeli, I understand that not all adhere to this bill, but at least we have a "solid" bill to put on the table. Immigration is a very sensitive topic, we rather be prepared to provide at least a stepping-stone to look at. Who knows? Maybe all this talk about CIR will be put on the table instead. But at least if they cannot make up their minds about Immigration as a whole, then we have DREAM Act.
