So there's been a lot of threads on this, with all sorts of different information.

I recently wanted to open a checking account, and I just want everyone to know that it is very much possible. Now first and foremost, you should call the banks around your area. Bank of American and Chase actually do accept ITINs, but it's a good idea to call them and ask what options they have for accounts, and what documentation you can use.

I used a foreign passport, ITIN, school ID, and letter/bill that came in my name. Within 30 minutes I had a checking account. So it is very much possible to open one, even with our status. If you don't already have an ITIN, I definitely recommend applying for one.

And if one bank doesn't work out, try another. Some banks (even different branches of the same bank) are more lenient than others, so be sure to look and call around.

I understand many of you already know this information, but I just wanted to have a thread where people new to the board looking for information can find it.

I opened a saving account and a college account together without an ITIN. I show them my student ID, Driver license(back in the good old day) and my passport without visa on it. The lady there was nice and I was able to get my account in 20 minutes.

Interesting post...

Can you do this at Chase? Can we open a bank account without an ITIN or a driver's license...?

Yes, it was at Chase. I think the reason they let me do it was because of my DL. However, with DACA and your EAD coming to you( trust me, it will happen to you, Lunafive, I think), you can just walk in there and open an account like a boss.
