Hello everyone!

I recently applied for the Amazon Rewards Visa Credit Card through Chase. I got a message that they would process my credit card and I would get a response in the mail. I got a letter in the mail yesterday asking for a copy of my social security card before they could finish processing my application.

I have never had any credit card company ask for this so I’m a little confused/worried.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I really don’t know if I should fax it in or just let them close out my application.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Get a secured credit card first to get your credit going. Once some credit history is established you will start receiving offers and applying for new credit will become easier.

I have had credit cards since 2012 when DACA came out. I have Discover for 10k among other cards. That’s why I’m so confused and thrown off.

Call them to confirm that request is legit and the justification for it considering they already ran your number to verify your info.

Fuck Chase. They are not an immigrant friendly bank anymore and they ask about your country of citizenship, and if you don't have a green card, they ask for a passport. Maybe asking to see your social security card for their credit cards is the next step they're taking to be hostile towards non-green card holders but don't reward them. Tell them to go fuck themselves and go to another credit card. They don't all ask for this much information and they are NOT required by law to ask anything other than a SSN and to confirm your identity and address. Don't reward this bad behavior.

Life kind of sucks at the moment but like Al Bundy and the mighty cockroach, I survive.

Adding another company to the do not buy from list.

I encourage everyone to keep a do not buy from list and to stick to it. Your dollars speak to them in the language everyone speaks, MONEY.

On top of this it is a credit card, YOU are doing THEM the favor by BUYING INTO their product. Captial One wanted me to fax income verification so I laughed into the phone and did NOTHING except swap to their competitor.

The fuck I look like finding a fax machine. Just so you can make money off me.

Never pay to store your money anywhere, you are doing them the favor by giving them the privilege of holding the money.

Never pay fees at a bank, they should be thankful for holding your money.

Never be late on payments, if you cant afford a credit card don't get one. They are a trap to the stupid. Like honey is to bugs.

The borrower is slave to the lender. You are enslaved until your debt is cleared.

Don't bother with Chase. I applied after having established credit and they didn't give me a cc claiming I didn't have credit long enough. They didn't even bother sending a letter. Meanwhile, American Express was mailing me daily and gave me 10k credit.. Go figure. I also like Discover and haven't had any problems with Visa.

I would give me a call again. A lot of times, they might let you verify by sending a code to your phone, which is what they did for me. And I think they’ve gotten pretty immigrant friendly because I have 4 credit cards with them.

And if they didn’t sent a letter outright rejecting you, it probably means that they are going to approve you.
