Perry and Rubio Say they Support In-State Tuition But Oppose the DREAM Act. Position Defies Logic, Alienates Latinos
While immigration has emerged as a flashpoint in the Republican presidential primary, the fact remains: not one of the leading candidates supports the DREAM Act.
It seems to me that the only reason Perry signed the in-state tuition bill w/e it's called in Texas, was because he was fulfilling his promises to the Latino community in Texas (since there's a huge chunk which can swing elections). Anyways now since he's running for president, he wants to win the primary and tries to come off as more conservative than his record shows to cater votes from the Tea Party. So basically he did a 180 degree switch when a bulk of his votes do not depend on Latinos. Obviously this is going to bite back any Republican primary winner in the general election, but I'm not entirely sure to what degree.
