I don't like the leftward march because then we will truly see our nations corrupted and broken on a fundamental level. When we have such a big divide in a nation, that means its time to fracture into two parts, or war will erupt.

Actually if we had free healthcare it would bankrupt the nation. We absolutely cannot afford to have free healthcare. Unless you tackle the cost of healthcare, not by spreading the high costs around and stealing money from others to pay for things, but at the true source, insurance. Insurance is the reason costs are so pants on head retarded. Insurance companies demand a discount, but health insurance places already have healthcare as cheap as the market allows. Easy. Raise prices, then give the insurance a discount.

People without insurance get screwed cause they have to pay inflated costs. People with insurance get boned cause they might not be covered. When you are dying you cant compare costs.

Free market is the only solution here, not full on socialism. Socialism has never before worked, it wont magically start working now. But DogJuiecMan, these nordic countries have socialism. I say look again and look closely at their budgets. Everyone points out the UK, but they are staring down the barrel of financial cataclysm.

Last but not least, I refuse to pay for someone else's healthcare under any circumstance unless they are blood, kin, or ally. The solution is never more government, get it's grimy paws out of everything but the essentials.
