Hello all!!

I moved here when I was 12 years old, in 1999. I am now 23, with a college degree but no place to work and no way to drive myself around since I am not eligible for a driver's license. My story might be a bit different since my parents are residents and so is my brother. We came here through my mom's employer and applied for residency. Well since the process took over 7 years, I turned 21. What does that mean? Well I was "kicked off" the paperwork sine I was considered an adult. Now I am in limbo, I have my life made here, but no way of actually living in it. I NEED for the DREAM ACT to be approved, I need to be able to continue my life without having my Dad driving everywhere. I want to apply to the jobs I know I could be amazing. The dream act is my only way into this society.

Your story goes to show the stupid flaws in the broken Immigration System this country has. Some of the stuff they do is so ridiculous.

I feel for you, I also have to depend on others driving me around everywhere cuz I can't get a DL, can't apply for jobs, and I'm not even allowed to go to College. =/
Don't lose faith, we need for the Dream Act to pass! Let's do our part, I'm sure things will get better!
~hugs~

The only question is if mere positive thinking will get us anywhere?!
We need to get this act approved - we need to take action somehow!!!

abigailc:

There are plenty of websites all around that show you various steps on how to take action to help pass the Dream Act.

I'd say keep calling and sending crap to your senators, representatives, hell, even the damn President! (if you can find a way to do that, please let me know LoL)

If you're still in High School, there are ways to start clubs and raise awareness, let people know about it, specially if you can get more and more people to sign the petition at http://dreamact2009.com/

There ARE things we can do, of course.
But since we can't do as much as we wish we could, what's left for us to do is think positive, dream, and hope.
Besides, positive thinking DOES get you somewhere! When you get discouraged, sad, depressed, or pessimistic, you send bad energy out to the universe, and that actually blocks the path to the things you want in life.
If you think you're not gonna get something, you're really not gonna get it.
Positive thinking is MAJORLY important, because with more good energy, the better chances we'll have! It'll also keep you out of your misery and depression, so good for you too.
Don't lose your positive thinking!
