Hi so, my name is Joanna and I'm 22 years old. I came at the age of 8 with my mom and my dad has been in the US 3 years before us. We are all EWI. I have Daca. I have already received my renewal a few months ago so I am good for 2 years. I'm happy in this situation because I finally got to get a real NJ license, drive legally, go into bars without carrying a POLISH passport lol, and most of all, work legally. I'm a sales rep at Verizon Wireless and it is good money. I'm in school part time studying business management. I'm happy with my current situation. The only thing that's been eating away at me is international travel. I have been in a few places inside the USA, including Vegas, California, North Carolina, and Florida by plane. The process is so easy I was not scared at all, but we all know international travel is on a whole different level.
I've been reading a few things about it, how we are able to apply under 3 reasons: humanitarian, work, or educational purposes. I am not a person who envies, or at least I try not to because I do understand the law. I simply know I don't have anyone to petition me for green card and I have realized that. It's unfortunate but I know most of us have accepted it this way. I haven't seen my family in over 12 years and every time I speak to my grandma on the phone we both cry. I know my parents took me here for a better life, and I don't blame them for anything, but I always see my friends traveling internationally and visiting all these countries without a care in the world so I get a bit upset. I am considering applying for advance parole. My grandma is very sick in Poland and she's getting old. I would not be able to live if I didn't hug her before she passed this would of course fall under the humanitarian reason. But then again, I read that advance parole isn't 100% guaranteed if you have a previous removal order or criminal history, which I don't have neither. I spoke to my mom about this and sometimes I tear up and she gives me a hug. I am an only child and me and mom are very close. She said that I can apply and go next year for a couple weeks and come back with my cousin, who has a 10 year visa into the USA. She's here for the summer now leaving next month, but already plans to come back next year to stay for 2 months as well. How do you guys feel and do you have any stories with successful advance parole? |
