I am surprised the Elf has allowed this waiver process to continue. Is this process protected by law?

I don't think it's protected by law. I'm surprised too since when Trump first become the president, there is a draft EO to end both DACA and waiver. Now that they ended DACA, not sure if the waiver will stay for long.

Its for I-601, but should also apply for I-601A (i believe - correct me if I am wrong).

Old as dirt post, but in my experience this is not true. I'm a visa overstay, never entered the country illegally and I am starting the i-601a process this week. This is for people who have unlawful presence or would trigger the 3/10 year bar.

You don’t file the 601a, you file the 601 along with your 485

I already have my 601a approved. I self filed. I am just waiting to see if AP comes back again because I’d rather do that. I posted a screenshot of my approval early on this thread.
