Hey guys, new here, i've been lurking this site for quite sometime now and finally registered. Its good to find people with similar problems and in the same boat as i am, it sucks...bad. But a little but about myself, My name is Chris, i live in California, i'm going to school almost finishing up my AA in science cause i want to go into radiology, but obviously i cant, cause of this shit i'm in. My parents came here 10 years ago, i'm 22 now. Came legally, but eventually overstayed my visa cause of immigration complications, and here i am, a sitting duck. Hopefully something passes this year.

Well, if Dream doesn't pass you need to get married to a citizen if you want to adjust your status. So date american girls.

That's what an immigration lawyer would tell you. They told me, go out, go to church, go wherever.

ya its pretty fun not having any damn control over our lives isn't it? Having to settle for things we dont have to, but ya, thats how our lives have come to be, no point in bitching about things, make due with what you got. but damn i get moments of intense anger and bitterness sometimes.

We don't condone that here in DAP. It is illegal to marry someone for legal status if you do not love them. I know you may have had the best intentions, lutier2008, but this isn't a "solution" that should be given to new members. We have many threads on why the site administrator and moderators do not condone this.

Welcome by the way HyenaUrs.

Understandable, but i'm pretty familiar with the whole immigration deal, lutier2008 is just saying what most people on this forum have on their minds anyway. Its like sitting around for some sort of rescue, how long are you willing to wait? you know. If someone throws you a branch, you sometimes have to grab onto it. We're all in this together

Thanks HOPEFULDREAMER for the welcome, id like to hear your story if you are willing to share.

Yeah, I know that it's obvious that many of us can fix our status like that but it's not something we like to consider here as it can be unlawful if not done for the right reasons and can be harmful for our cause in the long run.

BTW, I'm an upcoming junior in college during the Fall of 2007 but I'm still stuck in community college because there's no way my parents can afford the $35,000+ that they would need to pay for me to transfer to a four year university. I'm a Political Science and American Studies double major originally from Peru but I'm kind of a mutt [lol...my mom is Italian].

Hope to see you around the forum!!

I never said to commit marriage fraud. I am saying if you are going to date, date US Citizens. You'll have a better chance to fall in love with an american.

i understand we don't condone marrying for legal status on this forum BUT just thought i'd share this information with ya'll that many do not know........

here in Dallas theres a special adjustment of status program called D.O.R.A. where you can get a GC in 3months if your married to a U.S. citizen or are an underage (-21) & unmarried son or daughter of a US citizen.
