Anybody know the likelihood of a Dreamer being granted deferred action? Deferred action is basically a temporary permission to stay in the US, but it allows you to apply for a work and travel permit. I know that a few students were granted deferred action after they were going to be deported. I know that the DHS has the authority to grant deferred action on case-by-case basis.
Personally, while I am not being deported, I am very likely to leave this summer because I've already been sitting on a college degree for a few years and financially I can no longer afford to stay here without work. So being able to so much as obtain a temporary work permit would change everything for me and I'm sure many others as well. But I've spoken to one attorney and he didn't think much of the idea. He said he's not interested in taking cases like those. But at this point, even if the chances are slim, what do I have to lose in trying? I just don't know how to proceed. There is no application or anything to apply for it. I was hoping maybe someone here knows a bit more about it.
