Hey guys, I need your advice/thoughts.

I'm filing I-102 along with the I-130/I-485 paperwork because I lost my entry passport and I-94 years ago. I have copies of that passport's bio page, the page with the visa, the page with the entry stamp, and a copy of my plane ticket.

However, when the passport was lost, it was stapled to a newer passport, which I had made when the old one expired. So when I realized that both passports were lost, I filed a police report and only included the number of the newer passport. This was, like, 10 years ago when I was in high school -- I had no idea the consequences of losing my I-94 would be and what kind of adjustment filings I would be involved in in the future. Plus, it was scary enough to be at the police department filing the report while undocumented. (I'm saying that in case some of you ask me why I didn't think to include the old passport's number in the police report.)

My question is: should I submit the copy of the police report and an explanation? Or do you think my current evidence for the I-102 is sufficient?

Curious, are you filing I-102 with the I-130/I-485 package? or separately but at the same time?

From what I've read, a copy of the entry/inspection stamp on your passport is usually enough, but I guess that's assuming you still have the original passport to prove it. Hopefully you have a response from the I-102 before any AOS interview

Filing separately at the same time. There's a section on the form where you can enter what other forms you're filing with the I-102.

Form I-102s are supposed to be pretty speedy, right? That's what I understand from online searches, since there's really no judgment...either you have an I-94 number or you don't.

That makes sense

They're supposed to be, yes. But I've I read of some cases taking very long, or in others that they dont find it, even though there was one. I imagine it depends how long ago. I lost my I-94 but have the original passport thankfully so i think i will skip the 102 since it's expensive. good luck, keep us posted!

Yikes...

Well hopefully I get my I-94 number, and if for some reason I don't, then I can show to the immigration officer with all of the evidence I've presented that I'm not an EWI....

Shit. Now I'm worried.

It depends on the service center. It can take anywhere from 2 to 9 months to process. In reality, that is close to the AOS timeline of 4 to 10 months. Still, I assume they will be able to confirm legal entry on your record via biometrics as the AOS process moves forward.

What's your timeline like? And just curious, do you get a letter saying that or do you check online with your case numbers?

Haven't posted much recently, but posting here as I'm about to send my AOS package. My wife and I got married in december but have lived together for 4 years. Excited and pretty nervous. A bit worried that my DACA/EAD expires later this year, I better get everything right with AOS and get approved
