they said that USCIS decided to skip my fingerprinting and that on December 7th, they mailed me a letter to appear for my initial interview on January 10th.

being me, i asked why they were skipping the fingerprinting and they told me that in some cases, when fingerprints have been taken somewhat recently, they just use that set of prints to run the background. i think the last time i got fingerprinted was when i renewed DACA in... 2015 i want to say. then i got my fingerprints taken again for graduate school applications in 2016, but i am not sure if this counts at all.

anyway. so the attendant told me that and he gave me a printout. on the USCIS website, it says the same thing--that they mailed me an interview notice on the 7th. i haven't gotten anything in the mail yet, but am hopeful to have something early this coming week.

has this happened to anyone else?

also, on the printout i got, it says "initial" interview--i thought there was only one? or is this just bureaucratese babble?

i am excited and a little bit nervous!

thanks for the advice to go to InfoPass!

----------------------------------------------

also: many congratulations to all those who already got their GC! woo hoo!

That's awesome!!! Congrats! Start organizing your stuff for the interview!

Damn it takes that long for an interview?

What is the average time people wait after you are cleared for an interview?

For those that did it through a lawyer? How much did it cost? They are quoting me 3000 plus not including govt fees. Just want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off.

Also for those that worked undocumented and provided fake documents to work. Did you said yes to question 9 in part 3 of I-485 and then explained your situation?

It depends on location. From what I can see, the less immigrants in a certain location the less time it takes to get an adjustment interview.
