It doesn't but it always makes me wonder why there are more guests online than actual members. If people care or support our cause then they'll take the time to register/login, for those who don't, they shouldn't be able to see what we're posting.

I think the guests are fake.

I am going to go ahead and assume you are not well aware of forums or the internet.

There is a rule called the 1% Rule.

Quote:
In Internet culture, the 1% rule is a rule of thumb pertaining to participation in an internet community, stating that only 1% of the users of a website actively create new content, while the other 99% of the participants only lurk.

Eh its on the internet, don't post what you don't want to be public. Secrecy on the internet is hillarious, there's no secret lmao.

I used to run a forum myself. While I agree with the numbers, the point of my initial post is to keep those "lurkers" from reading contents we post on here. I don't necessarily need to know what the percentages are or what they do.

Too bad that most lurkers will only end up making accounts to lurk more.

The point is not to stop people from lurking, but disincentivize it especially if they're only guests

This will only harm our community, and give those determined to do us harm an encouragement.

Lurkers have rights, and tons of people read this forum for advice.

True, but there are a lot of lazy people who are so lazy that they'd rather go to a public site instead of registering for onethat may have the same information. It's just an extra layer of protection, not an absolute one. I am all for making the forum private.

There is really nothing special about a private forum. Anyone can make an account with false info. Are you going to be asking for permit in order to open an account?
