Yes it is. However, we can all pretty much see from all the articles that DREAM [and AgJobs for anyone whose parents work in agriculture] are pretty much set and agreed to.

The Z Visa is like a "probation" card. You can legally work here but you do not get conditional residency status [which is basically a green card but valid for only two years and which you will receive after graduating high school and matriculating into a post-secondary institution or joining the military] and all the benefits of DREAM [shorter wait time for filing the N-400, naturalization form among other things].

But we should always be open to new ideas.

Not under this new bill. Read up on the bill on senate.gov to see the actual text...I'm too lazy to go dig it up right now lol.

The dream hasn't been written yet, so it is difficult to tell. The Z visa is definitely not a feasible option for us. It requires that undocumented immigrants return to their country and go through a long process, which could take years before they are allowed to return. I think that the DREAM act will only be passed along or after a compromise has been reached on the broader bill, not before it. Discussions for the new bill has been adjourned to june, so one can only imagine when the actual bill will be introduced...

no, you got it wrong, they were talking about this provision on the senate floor earlier today and mentioned that immigrants would only have to apply at their embassy and could come back while the application is being processed

please dont make definite statements on something you have no clue about. it just confuses other people needlessly

based on senate.gov's sumary of the current bill being debated by the senate, the dream act is included but it seems to fall under the z-visa category along with everything else. z-visa requires undocumented immigrants to return to their country within 8 years if they wish to change their status to permanent residency. this is the touchback system, and you can return to your country, get your paper from US consulate and fly back the same day which is guaranteed.

discussions for the bill has not been adjourned to june, they are being debated daily right now till june before the final vote except for the long memorial day holiday.
