The Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, an adamant opponent of illegal immigration, isn’t against the American DREAM Act in principal, according to president Chris Simcox. Simcox said if the bill focuses only on the child, and doesn’t have any extra provisions like allowing the student’s family a pathway to citizenship as well, then, depending on the bill’s language, he isn’t necessarily against it.
“They need to be brought out of the shadows. They need to be documented and swear an oath to become a citizen,” he said. “If they do that, then by all means they deserve the opportunity that anyone else has.”

Hmmm, never thought i would hear that coming from him.

LOL ... Well, I wouldn't call it 'support' per se, but I do remember reading that Simcox and Co. aren't necessarily going to organize against immigrant kids. Still it's a good piece to run with.

uhhhhhh..........whhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaa????????

I guess that's good news.

He's still against it as it will allow family members to become citizens--even though it will take years upon years and most of them will be disqualified anyway for being here illegally in the first place, and only if their dreamie child will sponsor them (I believe; correct me if I'm wrong)--but if he doesn't throw his weight behind opposing it, then that's good enough for me.

Spread the article!!

if you all had the choice of:

- everyone enacts the Dream Act in to law ASAP.
- wait 6 years to gain U.S. permanent residence. later on citizenship.
- a special code in the passport that denied sponsoring of family members (except wife or child).

would you choose to have that greencard on ur hand right now with one catch; unable to bring in parents... ?

all i know is that in their eyes we are a minority; if we ask for too much, were gonna end up with nothing.

i dont think anyone in their right mind opposes the dream act
what they oppose is how it will help other people down the line get their status adjusted.

everyone knows that we are good people that work as hard if not harder than our peers.

"what they oppose is how it will help other people down the line get their status adjusted."

what can we do to change their mind as well...

i think some appose immigration as a whole, some only appose illegal immigration, some are racist against Latino, foreigners, some are just not educated enough about the issue...

the question is, what can we do to change their minds and get them in our side?

Does anyone know the circumstances that led him to arrive at this conclusion? That is supporting Dream, because we could use those same tactics to garner support?
