It's a slow Sunday, trying to recover from some Halloween festivities last night Aaand since I'm still feeling the Halloween spirit in the form of a hangover, though I'd make a Halloween thread.

So two questions:

1. What is the scariest movie you've ever watched?
2. Good ideas for a costume/best costume you've seen?

I've seen some pricy, elaborate costumes in my day but to me, the best costume ever is the one Mr. Miyagi made Daniel in the first Karate Kid movie:

Here's what it is for those of you youngsters that have never seen the original 1984 film (not the Jackie Chan/Jayden Smith 2010 turd):

Simple, funny, and original (at least back in the 80s).

As far as scary movies go, The Exorcist hands down.

That movie is disturbing on many levels. I've watched it a million times and am more or less desensitized to it but STILL won't watch it on my own in the middle of the night.

Other than that one, no other movie has managed to scare me other than the first Alien movie when I watched it for the first time. Hard to find a truly good scary movie, most nowadays are garbage. Same rehashed storyline, completely predictable, completely booooring. Passing a Border Patrol checkpoint was a million times more frightening

The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity were also great horror flicks out of the norm. Of course, maybe not as scary as they were when they came out and captivated the attention of moviegoers.

What Lies Beneath is a good one too, more on the thriller/suspense side of scary films, the same goes to the movie Signs.

The majority of scary movies don't scare me. They just give me a rush. But, Stephen King's IT has scarred me since childhood.

Also, Jan Brewer face masks would scare off anybody in question.

Alien is my top 2 most favorite movie. I love it! Jaws being my top 1.

I remember when I was younger me and my brothers and cousins used to cuddle up and watch El Espinazo del Diablo. There's just something about ghost children... they are the creepiest.

“¿Qué es un fantasma? Un evento terrible condenado a repetirse una y otra vez, un instante de dolor, quizá algo muerto que parece por momentos vivo aún,un sentimiento, suspendido en el tiempo, como una fotografía borrosa, como un insecto atrapado en ámbar. Un fantasma, eso soy yo.” The Devil’s Backbone (El Espinazo del Diablo), 2001 - Guillermo Del Toro

There's also something about The Fourth Kind. The movie itself kinda sucks but the idea and the actual videos just creep the bejeeesus out of me.

Anyone watched Dead Alive?? Talk about gore...

As far as costumes... creativity + cleverness + home made = the best costumes

The favorite one I've come across, so cute!

I love scary movies, and cosplaying, and halloween... I can go on and on and on and on about this...

The SCARIEST movies i've ever seen were all Filipino movies. They put American horror flicks to shame.

However, The Ring freaked the shit out of me. I still think it's one of the best horror movies i've ever seen because the plot was pretty good and smart too.

As for costume, my personal favorite this year was:

i loved this movie and thought this would make a great couple's costume. plus, automatic indie points!

I agree that's most scary movies are not scary at all. The Fourth Kind was scary if it turns out that the real footage is real but I am skeptical. I am more into the gory movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hostel, Saw types. Lol

The Ring definitely was creepy. Haha, I was cautious of turned off TVs around my house for like a day or two because I had the image of that girl crawling out of the screen to get me

The Ring 2 sucked ass though.

Is that picture from that new movie Moonrise Kingdom??

Have never watched IT, but that is an ugly ass clown. And Jan Brewer is an ugly ass hag, agreed on that as well, haha.

What scarred me in my childhood were the scary Mexican tales my uncles and cousins would tell. Who could forget La Llorona....

Hahahaha, Pedrito Fernandez. Isn't he like 50+ years old now??? The only movie I vaguely remember of his is the one with the girl with the blue backpack. Paranormal Activity did suck ass. Such bad acting, hard to take the movie seriously.

The Fourth Kind sucked too. And no, none of it is real, not even the supposedly "real footage" or the "true" events it is supposed to be based on.
